I just received this from Bob's son Jason

Quote:
I am Jason, Bob's son.

I'm sorry to report that his fight with kidney cancer is not going well.

We learned of it last August and went into treatment with the hope of extending his life. He has made if further than the doctors had expected but we are in the final stretch.

I'm so sorry to hear this Jason, your father and your family will be in my prayers.

Very sad to hear this news!  My most sincere condolences to Bob's family.  Jason was kind enough to let us know of Bob' predicament on the weekend.  (A few of us live quite near Forrest, Ontario and knew Bob). RIP.  Bob
We have lost a serious contributor to the woodturning community.

My condolences. Jason, please let the rest of the family know we on this forum miss him already. His videos and personal advice to me has helped so much.
I pray the Lord's peace on you household.

Very sad news.

Bob had become one of my heroes.  He was exceptionally talented, seemed to be totally unflappable, and could explain things better than any other YouTube turner out there.

I just now came across this very sad news. Bob's videos were far and away my favorites. He seemed to be incredibly modest for someone so obviously talented, and he did not appear to take himself overly seriously. He responded generously to questions and offered insightful observations. His family has my condolences on this loss.

He is and will be missed.

I just saw this and am sad that I never met Bob in person.  I lost my father on 4/28/16, so I know what such a loss is like. Cry

All my best to all the family and to those here who knew Bob personally.

I'll second that, and in addition, I'll add that he was always a classy guy. Even when being critical he did it with class and grace. A true gentleman.

RIP Bob.

Jason, I hope you take comfort in the many people who found your father to be such an inspiration. I discovered him first on You Tube and then on this forum. He was not only incredibly talented as a woodturner and teacher but also clearly a person of great integrity. There are not enough people of his quality in our world. We shall all miss him.

I still like watching Bob's videos. They bring back much fun in turning and I enjoy his dialect. Also, they get me going again.

THANKS, Bob
