Wow. I have only ever used Harbor Freight junk to turn. My first lathe was their mini wood lathe. It wore out after three years and I was gifted an old, old Harbor Fright 14 x 40 lathe. It was made all wrong and it flexed like a body builder with any decent size piece of wood on it. It was impossible to use a forstner bit on the tailstock due to it wobbling around like a drunken teenager.  Regardless of the condition it was in I still used because I had no other to use.   

Then this machine showed up. No wobble, actual 1/2 hp instead of those super weak motors Harbor Freight makes.  I can't stop it with my hand. The others I didn't hardly have to squeeze it would stop. I can pull a 1/4 inch wide strip off at a time!! No more tiny strings! It's like a completely different hobby with such a lathe! So what if it was built on 4-74. I love it.
