Dumb question about the use of coffee grounds: Do you use fresh or brewed grounds?  It's not that I'm to cheap to use the fresh grounds, I just wonder if it would affect expansion, color bleeding, etc.

Used works, not sure about fresh.  Plus it just makes more sense to use the grounds that have already been brewed.  I just got some used espresso grounds.  Man, That stuff is fine!

As long as they are dry, it doesn't matter.  I use fresh.  I have a small jar with about 2 tbsp of coffee in it I use for filling.  It last a long time if you aren't real sloppy.  It packs well into cracks so ther isn't a lot of waste.
